The Rifle

This rifle represents the brief transition between earlier Mk 13 rifles and the later Mod 7 configuration that ultimately standardized on the Stiller TAC 300 action and SureFire suppressor.

During this period, rifles such as this utilized carefully prepared Remington 700 long actions together with Knight's Armament gate-latch suppressors installed in the newly adopted Accuracy International AX-AICS chassis system.

That short transition produced one of the more interesting and lesser-seen variations in the evolution of the Mk 13 program.

The rifle itself was assembled by former NSWC Crane gunsmith Alan Brown. His blueprinting, barrel fitting, chambering, suppressor indexing, and overall workmanship reflect the standards expected from one of Crane's former precision rifle armorers.

Background

My name is Kevin O'Neill, owner of High Caliber Sales.

For many years, High Caliber Sales specialized in military precision rifle systems and served as an authorized Nightforce Optics dealer. During that time I had the privilege of working with many of the finest manufacturers and builders in the precision rifle industry while assembling Mk 13 rifle systems for collectors, long-range shooters, and professional users.

The rifle offered here has remained in my personal collection from the time it was built and represents what I consider to be one of the finest examples of the early transitional Mk 13 Mod 7 configuration.

Unlike many rifles assembled years later from individually sourced parts, this package has remained intact throughout its life. The rifle, suppressor, and optic have stayed together as a complete system, preserving a documented chain of ownership and provenance that is becoming increasingly uncommon.

The Nightforce Optic

The Nightforce optic included with this rifle deserves special mention.

Mounted on the rifle is a Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x50 equipped with the exceptionally uncommon A191 ballistic reticle.

During my years as an authorized Nightforce dealer, this optic was acquired directly from Nightforce's Sales Manager from his personal collection. It was never purchased through normal dealer inventory and has remained with this rifle ever since.

The A191 reticle was developed in conjunction with the original Mk 248 Mod 0 (.300 Winchester Magnum) ammunition program and was never part of Nightforce's standard commercial catalog. Unlike conventional Mil-Dot or NP-R reticles, the A191 represents one of Nightforce's specialized military reticle designs produced for a very limited audience.

Because these optics rarely entered commercial distribution, documented examples seldom appear on the collector market.

Although historically associated with the original 190-grain Mk 248 Mod 0 cartridge, I have found through extensive shooting that the reticle corresponds remarkably well with modern Black Hills Mk 248 Mod 1 (220-grain) ammunition at practical long-range distances.

For collectors of military Nightforce optics, this scope represents a rare opportunity to acquire an authentic A191-equipped NXS with a documented chain of ownership originating directly from a Nightforce insider.

Knight's Armament Gate-Latch Suppressor

Equally significant is the included Knight's Armament Mk 11 Gate-Latch suppressor.

Original KAC gate-latch suppressors have become increasingly scarce, particularly examples that remain paired with the rifle for which they were originally fitted.

The barrel was machined specifically for this suppressor during the original build, utilizing the proper indexing and registration required by the KAC gate-latch mounting system.

Alignment is correct, lock-up is excellent, and the suppressor interfaces precisely as intended.

Finding a gate-latch suppressor has become difficult.

Finding one that has remained with its original rifle is considerably more uncommon.

Condition

This rifle has remained in my personal collection throughout its life and has been carefully maintained.

Mechanically it remains exactly as originally built.

Headspace is correct, suppressor alignment is excellent, and the rifle presents beautifully.

The purchaser will also have the opportunity to purchase genuine Black Hills Mk 248 Mod 1 (DODIC AB43) 220-grain OTM military-contract ammunition from my personal inventory.

Current market pricing generally ranges from approximately $85–95 per box.

The purchaser of this rifle may purchase the ammunition for $55 per box in 10-box bundles or as an entire lot.

Transfer Information

The rifle and optic will ship fully insured to your designated FFL.

The suppressor is currently registered on an ATF Form 3.

The suppressor will transfer to your local Class III dealer before final transfer.
