The 509 Tactical is an extension of FN's 509 family aimed at offering users unparalleled customizability. The pistol utilizes FN's patented Low-Profile Optics Mounting System to allow for mounting over 10 different types of aftermarket optics through the use of adapter plates. The pistol also includes suppressor-height sights for co-witnessing with a chosen optic along with a slide cap that includes bump wings to protect the rear sight in the absence of a red dot optic. the 509 Tactical also features a threaded barrel for mounting suppressors and other muzzle devices.

This model has a Flat Dark Earth slide with an FDE polymer grip/frame, two FDE interchangeable backstraps, and suppressor height night sights. This model comes with one (1) 17-round magazine, one (1) 24-round magazine, and a FN logo soft pistol case.
