Colt M16A1 Model 613 Factory Original 5.56mm 20″ Transferable Machine Gun

This Chester County Armory listing is for a fantastic condition, factory original Colt M16A1 Model 613 5.56mm NATO transferable machine gun.

The Colt Model 613 was originally offered by Colt as a Commercial Sales version of the venerable military-provided M16A1 from 1973-1982 after demand for Colt’s military model started to decline following the end of the United States’ involvement in the the Vietnam War.  Built as a 20″ barreled standard rifle M16A1 variant with a teardrop forward assist, the commercial 613’s were typically “AR-15” marked for civilian sales, but “M16” marked for direct sales to law enforcement agencies. This particular model does, indeed,  have the much more rare and desirable M16 markings. These models were typically offered in the 5,000,000 serial number range, and this weapon is no exception. Production of this transferable machine gun by Colt appears to be in early 1974 based on its serial number.

This beautiful transferable Colt factory machine gun features its factory original furniture (rounded A1 trapdoor stock, M16 triangular handguards, and A1 pistol grip), a 1/12 twist original chrome-lined barrel, and it’s original “C” marked BCG. It also features the desired “SAFE”, “SEMI”, and “AUTO” fire control markings. The upper receiver is C and K marked, indicating forging production of the receiver by Kaiser, directly for Colt.

Mechanically, this model is in excellent overall condition. The original fire control internals note very little wear markings. The sear and disconnector are clean with crisp edges; the hammer notes only limited surface markings, and the BCG displays only minor wear.  The gas seals are very strong and solidly intact. The bore is very bright and shiny, and the barrel rifling remains very crisp and clean, with well-defined lands and grooves. While this model is in used condition, it appears to have been handled and stored much more than it has been fired.

Cosmetically, this almost 50 year old machine gun is also in excellent condition.  This model displays only very minor handling and surface marks in the exterior original phosphate finish, but nothing that is noted more than surface deep. The original forearm is in excellent condition, with only minor handling marks observed.   There is some minor scuff wear of note on the left side of the A1 pistol grip. The right side of the receiver by the fire controls is marked with 3 small initials and a number, which was made by the original LE agency that first purchased this weapon from Colt. This weapon was originally sold and transferred direct from Colt to that specific police department, which maintained sole ownership of this model up until recently acquired by Chester County Armory.  This is a magnificent investment opportunity to purchase a true one-owner transferable machine gun.

This factory original Colt M16A1 Model 613 transferable machine gun is currently on a Form 3 for easy transfer. The NFA paperwork indicates the manufacturer of this weapon as “Colt” and the model as “613”.
