Colt M16A2 Auto Marked 20″ Barrel 5.56mm NATO Transferable Machine Gun

This Chester County Armory sale listing is for an factory original Colt M16A2 20″ barrel 5.56mm NATO transferable machine gun with AUTO markings and fire controls.

This model is a rare, factory original, Colt M16A2 fully transferable machine gun that was originally made and registered by Colt for the commerical law enforcement and foreign military markets. Built and marked from the Colt factory as an M16A2, this is a true A2 configured model, featuring the A2 upgrades with a 20″,  1/7 twist barrel. This factory machine gun also features three position factory Colt full-auto fire controls that are set in the more desirable “SAFE”, “SEMI”, and “AUTO” marked configuration in respect to the burst marked A2 versions that are more typical of the A2 configuration.

This transferable machine gun is in overall excellent condition for a mid-1980’s production weapon. Mechanically, it is in beautiful condition, and appears to have been fired very little. The internal lower fire controls are fantastic, with almost no wear observed on the fire controls, themselves, and only minor wear markings noted on the factory original hammer. The original “C” marked bolt carrier group also shows only limited wear, and retains a solid, strong gas seal. The 20″ A2 barrel is bright and shiny, with crisp, clean rifling. The metalwork of the weapon is also in fantastic condition, with no dent, dings, gouges, cracks, or malformations of any operational concern.

Cosmetically, this weapon is also in above-average condition, with only minor handling marks noted in the original Colt factory anodized gray finish of both the upper and lower receiver. The original A2 rifle stock displays some minor handling marks, most notably on the right side of the stock, but the forend and pistol grip appear in like-new condition.

Purchase of this NFA transferable Colt M16A2 machine gun will include a period correct, factory original Colt M16 box, along with a Colt accessory pack that contains two 30rd Colt marked magazines, an original military Colt cleaning rod and case, a mil-spec packaged bore brush and chamber brush, a detail cleaning brush, an original Colt field oil container, and an original 1984 dated Colt M16A2 manual.  These accessories are not original to this weapon, but are factory Colt and are approximately appropriate to the production period of this transferable machine gun.
