Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) M1918A2 Machine Gun Manufactured by New England Small Arms, Pre-May Dealer Sample Only

This Chester County Armory listing is for a Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) Model M1918A2 .30-06 Springfield Pre May Dealer Sample Only machine gun.

This beautiful BAR was made under license by New England Small Arms Corporation for the US Military. Both the barrel and the receiver note the “Flaming Bomb” military ordnance proof marks, as well as “P” markings.  This BAR is a M1918A2 variant, and features the later production 200-1500m sights and removable carry handle, along with its original Bakelite and Resinox stock with walnut forend, adjustable bipod, hooded front sight cover, and newer model flash suppressor. The barrel is 11-52 marked, indicating Korean wartime production during the autumn of 1952.

This BAR M1918A2 is in fantastic overall condition. Mechanically, the metalwork is beautiful with no dents, dings, gouges, malformations, etc.. Internally, the weapon shows only minor wear and use marks. The barrel rifling is still crisp and well-defined. The bore is bright, but has lost some of its shininess.  The Bakelite/Resinox stock notes only small minor surface handling marks and indentations, and the wooden forend is also solid, with no cracks, and only minor surface scratches of note.  Cosmetically, the metalwork of this rifle is also in excellent condition, with a consistent gray tone to the parkerization, and only minor surface handling marks of note, specifically, on the right side of the receiver (which appears to be like oil storage marks).

This Pre-May 1986 Dealer Sample Only machine gun is available for purchase by Class 3 FFL/SOT holders, only. It will come with one 20 round original magazine and an olive drab military sling. This model is a “keeper” gun, that may be retained by a licensee upon surrender of their FFL license. It is currently on a Form 3.
