This Chester County Armory listing is for a rare, experimental version of a Colt AR-15 .223rem transferable machine gun. This firearm features a seldom seen, experimental, one piece polymer lower receiver and stock. It was made for the US Government by Colt, and showcases the highly desirable Government Experimental prefix in its serial number (GX6118). This unique model has fire controls that are the same as a standard AR-15/M16, however the SEMI markings are engraved below the selector switch, instead of above them. SAFE and AUTO positions are located at their normal positions. The upper is a standard A1 upper, featuring a 20" barrel, triangular hand guards, and a fixed front sight with bayonet lug. The one piece lower also features an enclosed pistol grip and a rear storage compartment in the stock, intended for storage of a cleaning kit. The door on the storage compartment is a spring tension hinge design, marked with a patent by Git Brothers Manufacturing Company.
