Destructive Device
Item Description
The USAS 12 is a rare 2 3/4 inch 12 gauge gas operated semi-automatic shotgun. USAS identified the weapon as a "Universal Sporting Automatic Shotgun" that resembles an M16 on steroids. The weapon was a concept of Maxwell Atchisson and the design was produced by John Trevor, Jr. Gilbert Equipment Company in Nashville, Tennessee contracted with Daewoo Precision Industries in South Korea to produce select fire versions for military and security sales. Gilbert Equipment Company also had Daewoo produce a semi-automatic version of the USAS 12 for sales in the United States. After U. S. Treasury personnel determined that the weapon had "no sporting purpose" the USAS 12 was classified as a "destructive device" virtually eliminating any civilian market. This USAS 12 is new and to the best of my knowledge unfired. The weapon comes with a sling, one 20 round drum and two 10 round stick magazines. Price includes shipping and insurance. Sale requires a justification letter for BATF approval of a destructive device transfer.
