Item Description
This is a complete DWM Luger rig, made in 1918 and including two matching magazines, 1917 dated holster and blank tool. The pistol comes with notarized letter attributing it to Col. Arthur Andrews of the 42nd battalion, the Royal Highlanders of Canada, also known as the Black Watch. He was awarded the Military Cross for outstanding ability and gallantry in action near Amiens, France in August of 1918. Andrews told his son he purchased the pistol from a Sergeant in his regiment, and that it had been untouched and laying in warehouse storage for over 60 years. The document states that the magazines are 100% original to the gun, but we aren't completely certain about the numbering. Please see the photos - a few collectors have inspected & verified authenticity, but decide for yourself. The pistol frame and the holster both have Andrews' name inscribed. Pistol otherwise shows about 5% finish loss, with most wear on high edges and the top of the receiver. Small parts retain 90+% straw. Original grips are numbered and matching to the gun. Holster is in excellent condition but did have some stitching repairs done to it.
