Item Description

This Chester County Armory listing is for an original, wartime production British-made Sten Mk II 9x19mm NATO transferable sub machine gun.

Created in Great Britian at the Royal Ordnance Factory in Fazakerely, this is a wonderfully historical example of one of the nearly two million Sten Mk II's made during WW2 that helped save the free world from Nazi occupation.

This Curio and Relic eligible machine gun was assembled in Fazakerely, Liverpool,  as determined by it's serial number prefix of FK. We say "assembled" because Sten's weren't really "manufactured" at the Royal Ordnance factories, but rather put together from parts and components that were created by various production companies all over England. This is the reason so many Sten Mk II's (even ones with consecutive serial numbers) can appear so different in their production styles.  This model also features a B&T marking on the underside of the magwell, showing that the magazine well was made by Broadhurst and Thomas, a wartime parts supplier. This version also proudly displays the more comfortable skeleton-style stock.

Mechanically, this transferable machine gun is in excellent condition. The weapon is fully functional. The metalwork is completely solid, with no cracks, dents, dings, gouges, etc. The internals show use, but limited physical wear. The barrel is still fairly shiny and the rifling is crisp.

Cosmetically, this weapon retains approximately 50% of its original Suncorite 259 finish and has not been refinished in any way. (Suncorite 259 is a black paint that was used often by the British Ministry of Defense on various steel pieces. It would be physically painted on, and then baked to cure, hardening it into a finish that offered superior protection from both the elements and caustic substances as compared to other metal finishes of the time, like blueing or parkerization). The areas of this weapon that no longer have the black Suncorite visible have patinaed to a very pleasing auburn and gray color. The included 32 round detachable box magazine has also patinaed nicely to match the weapon's color.

This historical, C&R eligible, fully NFA transferable machine gun is currently available on a Form 3 for easy transfer. The Form 3 lists "STEN" as the manufacturer and "STEN" as the model number.
